2008.09/013  Funding of Accommodation Facilities for Patients travelling to receive treatment at Queensland Health facilities

To improve the levels of appropriate accommodation available for patients travelling to receive health care, the Queensland Government intends to provide a total of $15 million in grant funding to non-government organisations over three years (2009/2010, 2010/2011 and 2011/2012) to build or enhance accommodation for patients travelling to receive treatment for cancer, heart disease and other illnesses. A two stage process is being undertaken to identify suitable non-government organisations, partnerships or consortia to build or enhance, and subsequently operate patient accommodation facilities in identified priority regions. Stage One is a process to shortlist Offerers for the Patient Accommodation Grants. Stage Two will then be a Closed Offer process for capital funding open only to Offerers who have been identified as suitable in Stage One.
