Servicing of Reid River Rest Area
The Reid River Rest Area is 50km west of Townsville on the Flinders Highway between Townsville and Charters Towers. The nearest township of Woodstock is approximately 20km east of the rest area. As it is a relatively busy section of highway, the Reid River Rest Area has one of the highest public usages of any Main Roads rest areas. The rest area is used by caravan and motor home operators, passing motorists and many who choose to stay overnight due to its “safe” reputation and its level of facilities. The rest area is serviced by electricity and a bore supplied water system. The treatment of sewerage is by a bio-cycle system. Good water storage facilities are in place and the pumping system is fully automated. The site facilities include: • Large parking areas with numerous trees • Barbeque facilities • Male and female toilets • Low maintenance bio-cycle system • Sheltered tables and chairs with some grassed areas • Driver Reviver Shelter GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK The contract is made up of one schedule and includes the maintenance and general up keep of the Reid River Rest Area and its amenities. It includes cleaning of the amenities block, little collection and grass cutting activities. Monitoring of the effluent disposal system may also be included. The contract will run from 1st July 2012 to 30 June 2013
