DET100921 - for the provision of management of the Springfield Lakes Community Centre

Please note that a mandatory site visit will be taking place on Friday, 23rd March 2012, at 10:00am.

The Springfield Lakes Community Centre is a result of a partnership between the Department of Education and Training (Qld) and the Department of Communities (Qld).

The Springfield Lakes Community Centre obtained funding through the Federal Government’s ‘Building the Education Revolution’ program to build a multi-purpose sports hall. The Department of Communities provided funding to the Department of Education (Qld) through the ‘Best Start – Supporting Families in the Early Years Initiative’, to develop a new community centre within the multipurpose sports hall.

Both departments have invested significant funds to construct the community centre and no further funding to cover operational costs will be made available.

It is intended that a Management Body be appointed to successfully manage the day to day operation of the community centre, including the engagement of organisations to provide services, activities and programs.
The Management Body will be required to work closely with the Principal of the Springfield Lakes State School and an overarching Governance Body to ensure that the centre is operated in accordance with all school policies, laws and regulations.
The successful Offeror will be required to:
• Enter into a Lease with the Department of Education and Training (Qld);
• Enter into a Management Agreement and participate in performance monitoring processes, as outlined within the Management Agreement;
• Ensure that the services, programs and activities offered at the community centre will not pose a threat or risk to the school environment including the children, their families or staff at the school.
