Construction and Delivery of one 24 metre Long Range Patrol Vessel
The purpose of this project is to construct a new vessel designed by Incat Crowther to replace an existing 20 metre, Long Range Displacement Patrol Vessel for the Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing (DNPRSR), Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS). The concept design process was undertaken by the department in 2011 to identify the suitable design to resplace the current vessel. A number of world renowned Naval Architect houses provided submissions and, after an intensive evaluation process, the concept design provided by Incat Crowther was chosen as the most suitable.
The new vessel is to fulfil the day-to-day management role of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area (GBRWHA) - performing a range of tasks including; marine protected area management, island national park management, compliance operations, incident response, diving operations and research. Based in Cairns, it will operate out to 200 nautical miles from the entire Queensland coastline throughout the Great Barrier Reef and Queensland coast.
