Provision of Services for Cairns Heritage Study Stage 2
The Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) is inviting Offers for Provision of Services for the Cairns Heritage Study – Stage 2
The Study is being commissioned by DERM, in conjunction with the Cairns Regional Council (CRC) to fulfill the Council’s and the Department’s requirements for improved information about the Cultural Significance of historic places within the study area. The project will provide information for listing places on the Council’s local heritage register and Queensland Heritage Register.
The objectives of the Cairns Heritage Study Stage Two are: • To assess the cultural significance of post-contact historic places within the former Cairns City Council area that have been identified during stage one of the heritage study • To prepare policies and guidelines for protecting the heritage values of places of post-contact cultural significance within the former Cairns City Council area. • To document places of cultural significance in a format that will support their protection under the Local Heritage Register / Planning Scheme or the Queensland Heritage Register.
