Qfferors are invited to tender for the provision of a masterplan for the future development of the North Ipswich Railyards.
The historic North Ipswich Railway Workshops Precinct (Workshops Precinct) is considered a key site in the revitalisation of the Ipswich City Centre. Its redevelopment has been identified as a key catalytic project that presents an excellent opportunity to create a regionally significant precinct close to the heart of the Ipswich City Centre. The extremely attractive workshops buildings, established and award winning rail museum, available land and riverside setting present the Workshops Precinct as a prime opportunity for further expansion and development.
The Workshops Precinct will continue to reinforce and expand its established tourism identity, whilst complementing and engaging a range of other tourism and related opportunities. High quality adaptive re-use of existing built heritage, integrated with new surrounding development which take advantage of vacant land while retaining the functionality of the precinct, unlocking the rivers edge, capitalising on the truly unique setting and attracting uses that activate the currently under-utilised land, will see this precinct expanded and redeveloped into a truly unique, world-class heritage tourism destination which will be socially and economically sustainable.
