Request for Proposals for the Provision of Ophthalmic Specialist Services
As at 1 June 2014, there were 19,028 Queensland Health public patients waiting for an appointment in an ophthalmology specialist outpatient clinic. Approximately, 11,000 have waited longer than clinically recommended to see an ophthalmologist (‘long-waits’).
This Request for Proposals is requesting Proposals for:
· Part 1 - clearing the current public health ophthalmic long-wait list (as at 1 June 2014).
· Part 2 - longer-term solutions to Queensland public health ophthalmic services.
· Part 3 - interest from the market for:
§ a potential shortlist for a subsequent ITO/direct negotiations for a more permanent, ongoing solution, or
§ variation to the long-wait list (Part 1) contract to provide for a more permanent, ongoing solution.
Although a response to all parts is not mandatory the Proponent should note that the Customer may use this RFP process to ultimately enter arrangements for the short-term and more permanent, ongoing solution. A failure to respond to Part 1 will preclude the opportunity for participation in the shorter term solution (long-wait list). Although a failure to respond to Part 2 and/or 3 will not preclude the opportunity for the Part 1 contract (provided Part 1 is addressed), a failure to respond to Part 3 may preclude the opportunity for participation in a more permanent, ongoing contract solution.
