The medical breathing air system incorporates a triplex compressor set and is located within the compressor plant room adjacent to the surgical tool air compressor set, vacuum pumps for the medical suction system and the plant air for the hospital work shop. The triplex system has been operational since the hospital was first opened, for approximately 14 years and is approaching the end of its economic service life. The medical air system needs to be replaced with a new proprietary system and the existing system is required to be removed.
