Refit of 7.5M Rigid Hull Inflatable Patrol Vessel 'Wahoo' including replacement of Outboard Motors and Trailer
Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol (QBFP), a Division of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF), operates a diverse fleet of (commercially registered) watercraft including vessels ranging from 3.4m to 23m in length such as personal water craft, small wood/aluminium punts, fibreglass/aluminium mid to large range, with the majority of the fleet being Rigid Hull Aluminium Inflatable vessels. The area of operation includes inland dam's shallow rivers, creeks and far offshore ocean waters necessitating a varied capacity.
The QBFP enforces fisheries and boating safety laws through surveillance and inspection, as well as undertaking related education with industry and community groups. With over 160,000 recreational and 13,000 commercial vessels in use, compliance with laws is necessary to ensure both the safe use of waterways and the sustainability of our fisheries resources.
The refit of the hull and purchase of new motors and trailer will enable the local staff in QB&FP to continue to respond to compliance issues in their district, conduct fisheries patrols and ensure that the QB&FPs compliance outcomes are achieved.
