The Liquid Chromatograph Tandem Mass spectrometer is for the chemical analysis of agricultural and veterinary chemical residues in food and feed.
The projects that this scientific equipment will support involve the analysis of food, feed and animal samples for agricultural and veterinary chemicals and a range of toxins from plants, fungi and synthetic. The determination of these chemicals is important for the primary industries in Queensland both for export and domestic markets. The Department also has a role in ensuring that these chemicals are used responsibly in the State and the work of laboratory when using this scientific equipment will facilitate these objectives better that can be done with current equipment.
