Upgrading existing contour banks and waterways at the Hermitage Research Facility Warwick

Hermitage Research Facility (HRF) is the main DAF centre for crop plant breeding research and is located in Warwick Qld.  HRF is a 230 Ha farm with many small field research blocks separated with contour banks & waterways.

Over time the contour banks have eroded due to varying weather conditions and the waterways have become obstructed with silt. The contour banks need reinstating to the correct height to constrain soil erosion and the waterways need excavating to allow adequate water flow and efficient drainage during heavy storms.

The research blocks are to be surveyed and all levels calculated.  The work performed on the contour banks and waterways will be according to the calculated levels.  The contractor will also have to work around existing Wheat and Barley research trials. These trials will be harvested in turn and then machinery can be moved in to these areas.
