| The Department of Environment and Heritage Protection is seeking an experienced consultancy is to provide an assessment of the total costs and water quality benefits for different policy scenarios for all industries and Great Barrier Reef (GBR) catchments to achieve the water quality targets as set out in the Reef 2050 Long-Term Sustainability Plan. This work will include the cost of remediation, system repair and where viable, land retirement from unviable agricultural production and urban stormwater management.
The project will provide an assessment of the marginal and total costs and effectiveness for implementing different policy scenarios (of various management interventions and actions) by all relevant industries to achieve target reductions in nitrogen and sediment pollution entering the Great Barrier Reef from adjacent catchments. This will include the costs of facilitating implementation of land practice change as well as land remediation, system repair, and where viable, the voluntary retirement of marginal land from production and urban stormwater management.
