In response to the ongoing water quality impacts affecting the health of the Great Barrier Reef, the Queensland Government has set ambitious targets to reduce pollutants in run-off from key reef catchments by 2025. To help producers adopt practices that minimise pollution run-off, the Reef Water Quality (RWQ) Branch of the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (EHP) invests in research, development and innovation (RD&I) projects that foster farm management practice improvement and deliver profit, productivity and environmental benefits.
The purpose of this EOI is to seek proposals from interested parties for projects in priority Great Barrier Reef (GBR) catchments that can address the priorities under the new Theme 6 – Local and Regional Solutions with a focus on identifying effective ways of engaging landholders and local and regional communities in activities that can achieve increased adoption of farm management practices that improve GBR water quality and may enhance farm productivity and profitability
