The Centre of Integrated Preclinical Drug Development (CIPDD) is looking to purchase an Inverted Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope for their research needs. The purpose of this invitation is to obtain competitive offers from suppliers who can supply, deliver, install and maintain confocal microscopes for the aforementioned institute.

The Centre for Integrated Preclinical Drug Development (CIPDD) in collaboration with researchers from the IMB, the School of Biomedical Sciences in the M+BS Faculty, the Centre for Advanced Imaging, the Queensland Brain Institute as well as our collaborators in the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences in the Science Faculty at UQ, is aiming to purchase a Confocal Laser Microscope System following the successful outcome of our recently submitted 2016 Major Equipment and Infrastructure (MEI) grant from NHMRC. The requisite equipment will greatly facilitate the conduct of ex vivo investigations of the cellular and molecular mechanisms through which novel compounds identified from pain therapeutics discovery programs at UQ, produce pain relief.
The expected outcomes and objectives for this purchase would include but not limited to:
3.2.1. Increased competitiveness through access to state-of-the-art imaging technology.
3.2.2. Increased collaborations through shared infrastructure across the University.
3.2.3. Better training of postgraduate students who will be the one of the major users of the infrastructure.
3.2.4. Higher quality research communications resulting from increased opportunity for UQ researchers to address scientific questions that require this type of technology.
3.2.5. Enhance opportunities to UQ to attract world-class researchers who require access to advanced imaging technology.
