Coordination of Major Integrated Project Design in the Wet Tropics

This Invitation to Offer (ITO) for the Coordination of Major Integrated Project Design is provided to Offeror(s) who have been shortlisted by the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (DEHP) through an Expression of Interest process.

The Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (EHP) is seeking offers from experiened contractors for the design of the Wet Tropics Major Integrated Project.

In May 2016, the Great Barrier Reef Water Science Taskforce released its “Final Report – Clean water for a healthy reef” (Report). The Report outlines 10 recommendations on how best to achieve the Government’s water quality targets relating to sediment and nutrient pollution reduction in Great Barrier Reef catchments.

Upon receipt of the Report, the Minister for Environment and Heritage Protection and Minister for National Parks and the Great Barrier Reef announced the Queensland Government would immediately commence work on recommendation 8 to undertake two major integrated projects in pollution ‘hot spot’ areas to improve water quality (Major Integrated Projects).

This Invitiation relates to one of the Major Integrated Projects, focussing on engaging cane growers in the Wet Tropics region (within the Tully and/or Johnstone catchments) to reduce nutrient and pesticide loads.
