MSQ Pinkenba Base Wharves Refurbishment 2016

The Queensland Government is seeking tenders to undertake maintenance works to the Maritime Safety Queensland Pinkenba Marine Operations Base wharves (referred as Upstream Wharf and Downstream Wharf).

The main items of works include:

Downstream Wharf

  1. Extract and dispose of 4 decayed timber fender piles.
  2. Supply and install 4 replacement timber fender piles.
  3. Remove all the existing 230 mm high x 150 mm wide of decayed hardwood timber kerbing.
  4. Supply 230 mm high x 125 mm wide recycled plastic lumber (grey) and cut to required lengths to match existing kerb, re-use holes for the M20 bolts, and install plastic kerbs with new grade 316 stainless steel M20 bolts.
  5. Remove all waler beams and supply and install replacement timber beams (match existing waler beams).
  6. Remove 2 corroded steel ladders.
  7. Supply and install steel ladders as replacements to aforementioned (6).
  8. All bent hand rails are to be straightened, sand blasted and repainted.
  9. All bollards are to be unbolted, sandblasted, repainted and reinstalled.
  10. Cracks specified to be injected using an epoxy.
  11. Decommissioning and removal of existing asbestos service pipe from under the deck
  12. Decommission and removal of existing electrical services
  13. Design and construct new electrical services to make safe and match current industry standards.
  14. Decommission and remove all existing firefighting services
  15. Design and construct new firefighting services to match industry standard.
  16. Design and construct potable water supply to wharf.
  17. Repair damaged/broken concrete at front face of wharf (next to decommissioned fire hydrant). Refer to Appendix F

Upstream Wharf

  • Remove only decayed 230 mm high x 150 mm wide of decayed hardwood timber kerbing
  • Supply 230 mm high x 125 mm wide recycled plastic lumber (grey) and cut to required lengths to match existing kerb, re-use holes for the M20 bolts, and install plastic kerbs with new grade 316 stainless steel M20 bolts.
  • Remove all waler beams and supply and install replacement timber beams (match existing waler beams).
  • Remove 3 corroded steel ladders from the Upstream Wharf
  • Supply and install steel ladders as replacements to aforementioned (4).
  • All bent hand rails to be straightened, sand blasted and repainted.
  • Corroded bollards to be unbolted, sandblasted, repainted and reinstalled.
  • Decommission and removal of existing electrical services
  • Design and supply electrical connection to the existing light pole.
  • Decommission and remove all existing firefighting services.
  • Design and construct potable water supply to wharf.
  • Supply and install Denso Seashield 100 Series to all piles as per manufacturer’s specifications.

Mooring Pen

  1. Undertake detailed design of mooring pen and prepare RPEQ certified drawings
  2. Supply and install mooring pen
  3. Provide maintenance manual for mooring pen
