 Mackay Regional Council invites submissions for the waste haulage and landfill operations at the Paget Waste Management Centre and Hogan’s Pocket Landfill Facility.

This tender is for the Services to load transfer trailers at the Paget transfer station, transfer that waste to the Hogan’s Pocket landfill and operate that landfill (“Waste Haulage & Landfill Services”). This contract is to replace, substantially, the services currently undertaken under a similar contract. However, the services scope of the new  Waste Haulage and Landfill Services’ changes from the current Mackay city contract, principally by removing the haulage from minor transfer stations which has now been separately tendered.

The substantive services for this contract are at two Sites – at the Hogan’s Pocket Landfill and at the Paget WMC, with the haulage component being between those two locations.

At the Landfill, the contractor is responsible for most of the operations at site; but separate contracts are current for or will exist for:

• the landfill gas management system;

• any initial cell development or closure works; and

• some miscellaneous services, as further described in the Services Specification and draft Agreement.

At the Paget WMC, the overall operations comprise activity under several contracts in addition to the contract that may arise from this tender, being:

• the Paget TS operations, which covers the transfer station floor operations and maintenance of the Paget WMC generally;
• the RRF Services, operating in the pick-off bay, shop and adjacent yard;
• the gatehouse services, operating only in the gatehouse at the weighbridge; and
• Green Waste processing operations, in the dedicated green waste processing are in the south-eastern part of the Paget WMC.
