| The Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) collects, manages and delivers surface and groundwater monitoring data to meet legislative obligations under the Water Act 2000 and the National Water Initiative (NWI). The NWI represents a shared commitment by governments to increase the efficiency of Australia’s water use, leading to greater certainty for investment and productivity, for rural and urban communities, and for the environment. DERM is commited to improving and enhancing its’ water monitoring and data collecting capabilities across the State in terms of all aspects of related survey work. DERM requires a Real Time Kinematics (RTK) system utilising GPS to provide very accurate real time levelling and positioning information (within 10mm vertical) without the need for additional post surveying processing. The system will greatly reduce the time required for most routine surveying applications and will enable the equipment to be operated by one person as opposed to standard survey equipment which requires a minimum of two people.
