Professional Services for the Benefits of Timber Project
The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) is seeking an experienced offeror to collate the necessary existing technical and scientific information and present it in a manner that builds a solid case for why timber should be considered as a preferred building material.
The objectives of the ‘benefits of timber’ project are to:
Build understanding of government decision makers about the opportunities and benefits of using timber in built assets through the provision of relevant and targeted information.
Provide a suite of written materials that will be used by government and industry to support decision-making about the use of the timber in built assets.
The deliverables of this ‘benefits of timber’ project are to:
Prepare a series of fact sheets and/or technical guides that draws together a range of existing information covering each topic within the following key areas of interest:
the sustainability and environmental benefits of timber;
the building and construction benefits of timber;
the social and regional benefits of timber being incorporated into built assets
the ongoing lifecycle costs (eg maintenance) of timber being incorporated into built assets; and
the common concerns relating to the use of timber.
Prepare a concise and succinct summary document that presents the key and most important messages relating to the five key areas of interest.
