Supply and Delivery of Shark Nets

The Queensland Government, Department of Agriculture and Fisheries undertake a safety program to decrease the risk sharks pose to swimmers. The Shark Control Program equipment comprises of 368 drumlines and 28 nets, which are in place off 85 beaches from the Gold Coast to Cairns to reduce the possibility of shark attack for swimmers. The department utilises external contractors to maintain and service the nets and drumlines.

The equipment is subjected to harsh marine conditions, which results in accelerated wear and tear and occasional loss. To maintain the integrity of this equipment it needs to be replaced periodically. The nets used by the Program are uniquely designed and are specifically hand made to departmental specifications.

This request for quote is for the manufacture of one hundred (100) 12 knot mesh panels within 12 months of the contract being awarded to be used as part of the Shark Control Program.
