Cultural Heritage Survey and Research
The Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing requires a supplier to develop comprehensive knowledge of the cultural heritage values of the IJMA to provide a basis for management (IMA clause 4.4(d))., through:
1. A rolling program of cultural heritage survey targeting priority knowledge gaps, Pleistocene areas, areas of modelled high archaeological risk and potential Aboriginal pathways that cross the IJMA.
2. Building existing knowledge of cultural heritage by undertaking subsurface archaeological investigations to determine the age, use and distribution of sites
3. Developing a chronology of Aboriginal occupation and use of the IJMA which will contribute to management, interpretation and education and a greater understanding of Aboriginal occupation and use in eastern Australia.
4. Continuing capacity building of QPWS and QYAC personnel working in the IJMA.
