Men's Support Service - Mornington Island
Men’s support services contribute to integrated approaches in response to priorities identified by discrete Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. These integrated approaches also involve family support services, domestic and family violence responses, alcohol management, early childhood and health and wellbeing services.
The purpose of this procurement is to establish a new Men’s Support service on Mornington Island to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men aged 16 years and older, identified as being affected by alcohol and other substances and violence (including as perpetrators of domestic and family violence) to:
• Improve the safety and wellbeing of their families and communities; and
• Increase their individual sense of healing and personal wellbeing.
The expected outcomes from this service include:
• improved sense of personal identity, healing and cultural links
• increased safety of women and children from domestic and family violence; and
• increased perpetrator responsibility for abusive and violent behaviour.
