Curtis Island Machiney Hire
There is a requirement for a maintenance program for roads and fire lines and other general earthworks within the Curtis Coast Management Area. Fire line maintenance are prioritised in line with the proposed planned burn programs to determine which fire lines are to be treated. The road maintenance allocations are for priority roads in the area and are primary visitor access roads within the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) estate.
The Contractor shall grade the fire breaks to remain within the existing footprint. Any main access Fire breaks/Tracks should be maintained at the existing width (so two vehicles can pass). Existing crowns in any tracks are to be maintained so that water flows off the crown to the edge of the track.
Maintenance works within this program involve:-
• Grading of roads and fire lines to maintain the formed surface, drainage of the pavement, remove flammable grass and vegetation material on the trail.
• Clearing/ opening of constructed table drains on formed roads to maintain drainage systems.
• Re-forming and clearing of whoa-boy drainage systems on unformed roads.
• Repairing identified potholed and scoured sections of road by placing and compacting road base materials.
