The Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services (the department) provides funding to non-government organisations to support vulnerable families to address multiple and/or complex needs and build their capacity to safely care for and protect their children.
This investment aims to strengthen the protective factors for young parents aged under 20 years and ensure their young children, generally aged 0-4 years, can safely live at home. The aim is that both generations within these families experience benefits. Families will become stronger and more resilient. Parents, in particular mothers, will develop improved life skills and children will be safely parented and meet their developmental milestones. It is anticipated both generations will have improved health indicators.
In accordance with the Summary of Location Data (SOLD) published by the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services, (March 2017), Caboolture rates as a number one Child Safety Service Centre catchment for teen births across Queensland. This data highlights the priority need and the high demand for service responses in this geographic catchment area. Regional data from Queensland Health for 2017, predicts approximately 200 births from young parents within the Caboolture Hospital catchment.
The Request for Quote is provided to purchase a Targeted Family Support Service (TFS) - Young Parents Program (YPP) in the Caboolture and Morayfield areas and if capacity permits, to surrounding areas.
