The Department of Justice and Attorney-General (DJAG) invites you to submit an application for the Gambling Help Innovation Fund 2017-18 (GHIF), a pool of short-term project funding established to support the work of Gambling Help service providers.
Funding under the GHIF aims to support innovation in primary, secondary, and tertiary initiatives (as per public health approaches to gambling). Intended outcomes of initiatives to be funded under the GHIF include:
• Improved service access for vulnerable and at-risk groups;
• Reduction of service delivery gaps;
• Improved outcomes for clients;
• Increased community awareness of problem gambling and how to get help; and
• An enhanced evidence base regarding effective problem gambling interventions (through research).
Initiatives developed under the GHIF will complement other Gambling Help initiatives developed by the Queensland Government and Gambling Help services but will not duplicate activities already adequately funded under current Gambling Help service agreements (either through the Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors or DJAG). Examples of eligible projects include but are not limited to: research projects, community education initiatives, training, resource production and community engagement activities with vulnerable and at-risk groups.
Non-government organisations currently contracted to deliver Government-funded Gambling Help problem gambling counselling and support services (face-to-face, Helpline, residential or online services) are invited to apply for one-off funding from a total pool of $150,000 excluding GST. Project proposals can be for any amount up to $50,000 excluding GST, and each organisation can submit multiple project proposals.
Organisations applying for funding must note that all funds granted must be acquitted by 30 June 2018. The closing date for applications is 16 February 2018. Successful applicants will be notified in March and it is anticipated that project funding will be provided for the April to June quarter.
