Urban Water Management Practice Framework for Regional Report Cards
The Department of Environment and Science DES, Office of the Great Barrier Reef (OGBR) will facilitate the delivery of a new urban water quality management practice assessment framework that will be used to determine a ‘stewardship rating’ for water managers in the urban environment as well as to identify and drive suitable management actions to deliver improved water quality outcomes.
Requirements
1. To deliver a framework that enables reporting in regional report cards against available state or regional urban water quality targets, to promote best management practice where possible and to gather data to create I inform future water quality and ecosystem function targets.
2. To engage urban water managers in the development and ownership of the framework to ensure voluntary participation in the benchmarking and assessment process.
Deliverables
1. A draft ABCD for Urban Diffuse (mature and developing), using the agreed framework elements.
2. A draft ABCD for Urban Point Source, using the agreed framework elements.
3. Develop methodology for collecting relevant management practice and stewardship information including DES/council compliance data and using for example questionnaires for self-assessment by participants; and a methodology for deriving a final score.
4. Final Report - Urban management practice adoption framework with final approved ABCD management practice frameworks and data collection and analysis methodology
