The Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women (the department) provides funding to non-government organisations to reduce harm or risk of harm to children and young people, prevent crisis or problems arising or escalating within families and to stabilise or maintain family wellbeing. This investment aims to strengthen the protective factors within the family to ensure vulnerable children and young people can safely live at home, and for families to:
• become stronger and more resilient
• have improved connection to family, culture and community
• have improved life skills
• be safe and protected from harm.
Family Support can be delivered across a continuum of interventions based on family needs. The Brisbane Region is seeking offers to provide Secondary Family Support (SFS) services for families who are considered vulnerable and in need of support.
The new SFS will provide necessary intervention and support as part of a broad family support continuum and ensure that families are provided the right level of support when they need it.
