Relocation and Hire of Accommodation at Wacol
In mid-2014, the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF), acting through the National Red Imported Fire Ant Eradication Program (NRIFAEP), hired two (2) demountable buildings to accommodate field staff mustering and training at the Richlands Depot (51 Fulcrum Street, Richlands, Qld). These buildings consisted of one (1) x open plan demountable 12m x 6m (including air conditioning) and one (1) x ablutions demountable 4.8m x 2.4m with toilets and a shower (including effluent tank and access steps with landing).
On 30 June 2018, the lease for the Richlands Depot expired, with no possibility of extension. The majority of staff relocated to the new Berrinba depot, however, the Program intends to have a fully functional site at Wacol to fulfil a number of operational requirements.
As NRIFAEP would incur costs for the relocation of this demountable to Wacol or to return it to Coates Hire Operations Pty Limited (Coates) depot, the decision was made to relocate the 12m x 6m open plan demountable to the Wacol site, which is owned by DAF, but return the 4.8m x 2.4m ablutions demountable and the access steps with landing to Coates. It was also decided to add a verandah (deck) to the 12m x 6m demountable as a way to increase the floor space in the most cost effective way, while providing valuable shade for staff, contractors and visitors at the same time.
The proposed term of hire is for twelve (12) months.
