Delivery of "Breakthrough for Families" (BFF) ice and other drug education and support
Under Action on Ice: The Queensland Government’s plan to address use and harms caused by crystal methamphetamine, the department is responsible for implementing one of the key initiatives which is delivery of Breakthrough – ice education for families. Funding will be provided for up to nine service providers across Queensland for delivery of the Breakthrough for Families (BFF) program to the general community, particularly families affected by methamphetamine and other drug use, from 1 June 2018 to 30 June 2020.
Service providers will receive training and professional support from consultants separately contracted to the department who will develop BFF.
Deliverers of BFF will offer families and the community information, education, strategies, and referral to further assistance. This will enable participants to build their capacity to support themselves and their families and loved ones that are using methamphetamine (ice) and other drugs. BFF will be open to anybody seeking information, advice and support. An important target group is families where ice and/or other drugs have contributed to, or may contribute to child protection concerns.
Service providers will be required to deliver BFF to a wide range of families and individuals across demographics affected by ice and other drugs. Suppliers can choose to provide a quote/quotes for up to nine location clusters.
