Townsville Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family Violence Support Service (Co-design and Service Delivery stages)
The department is investing in a new domestic and family violence support service to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The service, to be delivered by an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation, will focus on the safety and support needs of victims, including children and young people in their own right as well as working with people who perpetrate this type of violence to change their abusive behaviour. The service will be trauma informed and delivered within a healing framework to respond to the needs of Indigenous people in Townsville. In addition, the service will support the specialist domestic and family violence court in Townsville by working with respondents subject to intervention orders.
To support community input and ownership of the service and its approach, establishment of the new service will be conducted over a two stage process –
• Stage 1 – Co-design of a Service Model; and
• Stage 2 – Service Delivery
The department seeks quotes from Suppliers interested in delivering one or both of these stages.
