Mt Chalmers is a disclaimed open cut copper/gold mine, under the care and maintenance responsibility of DNRME Infrastructure Management – Major Projects Team.
The project team are seeking to undertake sampling and testing of materials found at surface, to predict the long term environmental performance of the site. This includes identifying materials which are likely to oxidise and generate acid, or which could be subject to leaching contaminants.
The factual information obtained through this investigation work will inform future management strategies for the site.
