Professional Services to Support SGC ACA Expert Elicitation Process
The Department of Environment and Science (DES) has developed the Aquatic Biodiversity Assessment and Mapping Methodology (AquaBAMM) to assess the biodiversity values associated with Queensland’s riverine and non-riverine aquatic ecosystems. The AquaBAMM identifies relative wetland conservation values within a specified study area (usually a catchment) using available data, including data resulting from expert knowledge, to produce an Aquatic Conservation Assessment (ACA) for a particular study area.
ACA results can be interrogated using a Geographic Information System (GIS) providing a decision-support tool for internal and external policies and projects requiring the relative assessment of wetland ecological values.
A critical component of the AquaBAMM is the expert elicitation process which is implemented by means of a series of expert panel workshops. The Terms of Reference for the expert panel include vetting lists of exotic species, aquatic threatened and priority species, and developing a series of expert panel decisions relating to special and unique aquatic features. DES requires a suitably qualified professional contractor to help review, develop and implement the outcomes from these expert panel workshops.
