Concept Designs for two (2) x 16 metre Patrol Vessels
The Department of Environment and Science (DES) is seeking offers from qualified and experienced shipbuilding firms and/or naval architects to develop suitable Concept Designs for two (2) x 16 metre patrol vessels for use within the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area (GBWHA), Torres Straits and Gulf of Carpentaria.
One vessel shall be referred to as a Conventional Patrol Vessel, the second shall be referred to as a Patrol / Landing Craft.
Both vessels shall be multi-purpose platforms and perform a range of tasks including patrol operations, dive support operations, marine infrastructure installation and maintenance (eg moorings, signs), and island park management (camp grounds, walking tracks, weed management).
The Patrol/Landing Craft shall have landing craft capabilities to load and unload side by side vehicles, small excavators and posi-track type machines from boat ramps and beaches.
A key requirement for both vessels is excellent sea-keeping characteristics at a cruising speed of 20 knots in up to 2 metre significant wave heights.
