The Doomadgee community is seeking a provider for a Women’s shelter that will provide a place of safety for women and children experiencing domestic and family violence, where women can be safely accommodated in times of experiencing violence, and can also gather there to seek and share information, advice and support for each other on issues relating to domestic and family violence.
This procurement process is seeking submissions from suppliers with demonstrated capacity to deliver a culturally appropriate women’s shelter (Temporary Supported Accommodation – Immediate) for women and children experiencing domestic and family violence in Doomadgee.
Through the Women’s Shelter Service (ST6), the Supplier will provide safe accommodation for women and their children for short stays, with wrap-around case management support that includes risk assessments; safety planning; support and advice for finding short and long-term stable and safe housing needs; connection to appropriate social and community supports and information and advice regarding domestic and family violence matters.
The service will commence delivery of the Women’s Shelter component immediately and will work with the Strong Women’s Group, the community and the department through a co-design process to ensure delivery of this component commences by 1 July 2019.
The service will be required to work collaboratively with DVConnect and the broader domestic and family violence and homelessness/housing service systems, towards long term safety and housing needs of the clients.
