Background: The Legal Assistance Service Program (LASP) with the Department of Justice & Attorney-General (DJAG) have approved contingency funding that is apportioned internally between service delivery, contingency and project funding. In February 2019, the LAIC endorsed a refined policy and process which increases accountability and transparency around the allocation of contingency funding. This policy and process is also supported by the legal assistance sector (through the Queensland Legal Assistance Forum) and Queensland Treasury.
This enables the Queensland Government to be agile to the changing needs of the community and recognises that new and unforeseen areas of legal need may emerge during the funding cycle.
Eligiability: To be eligible for contingency funding, the community organisation must currently receive funding under the LASP to deliver legal assistance or peak services.
Purpose & aim :The purpose of this project is to provide one-off funding to community organisations to help them respond to emerging community legal needs.
Applicants are invited to respond to the Attachments.
