Requirements
The Queensland Government will contribute funds to a consultant to convene the second Kati Thanda – Lake Eyre Basin Traditional Owner Forum in Longreach on 10 October 2019. The objectives of the forum are to:
Explore an appropriate mechanism through which collective voices of Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre Basin First Nations peoples may be hear.
Establishment of a long standing formal peak body
How this partnership might complement the Georgina Diamantina Cooper Aboriginal Group
Develop position statements on Traditional Owner governance and management including irrigated agriculture, grazing, vegetation and feral pest management, mining, petroleum, and unconventional extraction methods such as fracking across the entire Kati Thanda – Lake Eyre Basin
