View Contract Details

This project aims to provide a basis for a social and economic co-benefits standard for the Land Restoration Fund’s EOI process. The work will deliver a polished, written report of approximately 25 pages, including Executive Summary.  The report will include the following:

1. A brief literature review of existing standards (including those used in carbon offsets) that consider social and/or economic co-benefits. This will primarily draw on existing LRF work (Co-benefit conceptualisation 061118.doc), the Energetics review of co-benefit standards, other relevant programs (e.g MIPs), but will also look at recent developments in biodiversity offsets. Amongst other things, this will identify: i) the current state of knowledge and practice in social and economic co-benefit indicators, ii) the suitability and applicability of existing approaches for the LRF, iii) identification of knowledge gaps/areas for future work;
2. A brief review and synthesis of available social and economic data and associated data collection / survey processes at the national and Queensland level that could be readily applied by proponents to demonstrate social and/or economic co-benefits from their proposed offset projects;
3. If relevant, an examination of the EOIs from the Catalysing Action pilot round to see how applications had planned to demonstrate social and/or economic co-benefits in these proposed projects; and
4. A preliminary framework for selecting, monitoring and reporting on social and economic co-benefit indicators to enable project- and program- scale evaluation.
