Environmentally Friendly Moorings (EFMs) Offset Project (OPM006)

A bid is invited to deliver an environmental offset for impacts to the Moreton Bay Marine Park, the Pumicestone Passage Fish Habitat Area and marine plants, specifically seagrass. This will be done through the replacement of 116 traditional block-and-tackle style moorings with 116 Environmentally Friendly Moorings (EFMs).

EFMs allow seagrass communities surrounding the mooring site to regenerate, improving the extent and quality of marine plants in the area. In order to completely fulfil the offset requirements addressed by this project, the 116 EFMs must be located within the Moreton Bay Marine Park with at least one EFM to be located within or adjacent to a fish habit area as declared under the Fisheries Act 1994 (Qld) (Fish Habitat Area).

The respondent will be required to sign an Environmental Offset Agreement with DES and provide a detailed ‘Terms for achieving a conservation outcome’, which is to be endorsed by Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) and approved by DES.

All must be capable of achieving a conservation outcome for marine plants, Fish Habitat Area and the Moreton Bay Marine Parks as stipulated in the 'Terms for achieving a conservation outcome document' (Marine Plant Offset Delivery Plan).
