The University of Queensland (UQ) is a premier Australian tertiary education institution, headquartered in Brisbane, Queensland. A member of the prestigious “Group of 8”, UQ has established itself as a destination of choice for both domestic and international students pursuing a higher education. The University has over 53,000 enrolled students and over 7,500 staff across its three campuses: St Lucia, Herston, and Gatton. Each year, UQ welcomes over 19,000 new students.
The UQ Mental Health Strategy (2018-2020), sets out the university-wide approach to mental health. It ensures that mental health is included as a key priority in decision making at UQ. The strategy was developed in consultation with UQ staff and students and draws upon international best practice. It outlines a stepped-care model to change culture, build on the strengths of the UQ community and tailor support to individual requirements.
The Early Warning System (EWS) is an early alert system to help identify students who may need support, and is a key component of the strategy. By improving the skills and knowledge required to identify and respond to those with psychological distress and early signs of mental illness, UQ will ensure timely access to services and resources.
The University seeks offers for the development of a Machine Learning (ML) Proof of Concept (PoC) EWS implementation in UQ’s AWS environment.
