The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Partnerships (QPWS&P) works with First Nations Peoples to ensure the protection of Country and culture.
As part of the Values Based Management Framework (VBMF) planning process Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service & Partnerships (QPWS&P) have invited the Wulgurukaba Aboriginal Corporation (WAC) and the Wulgurukaba Yunbenun Aboriginal Corporation (WAYC) to partner to jointly develop a management statement for the future management of Magnetic Island National Park.
Representatives of WAC and WAYC have responded in the affirmative with the next stage to conduct a meeting on country.
The purpose of the meeting is for QPWS&P to engage and advise on the VBMF and the planning process for Magnetic Island National Park and to determine the way forward.
QPWS&P require a contractor to identify and communicate with the correct representatives of WAC and WAYC.
The contractor is to provide administrative and logistic services to conduct a meeting between the QPWS&P Officers and representatives of the WAC and WAYC.
The contractor will purchase goods and services on behalf of QPWS&P in line with DES “Financial Management Practice Manual” and relevant policies and procedures. This will include making bookings for travel, accommodation, meals and meeting facilities for WAC and WAYC attendees.
The contractor will make payments to WAC and WAYC attendees in line with the DES Policy “procedural guide-payment-traditional-owners-NPSR-activities-services” including payments for cultural advice.
The meeting will contribute to the Department’s commitment to protect and manage Queensland’s protected area estate for current and future generations. This project will align with the roll out of the VBMF which will afford QPWS&P the opportunity to reallocate resources to where they are needed to best conserve species and ecosystems, and subsequently build resilience.
