Cairns Youth Sexual Violence Counselling and Case Management Support Service (180AAA)
The department is providing new funding to establish new services responding to youth sexual violence in Cairns.
The new Counselling and Case Management Support Service will deliver a trauma-informed, developmentally-sensitive and culturally-safe counselling and case management support for children and young people aged 12 to 17 years who have experienced sexual violence and / or exhibiting sexually reactive behaviours. The service will –
• adhere to the principles and guidance articulated in the Queensland Government Interagency Guidelines for Responding to People who have Experienced Sexual Assault;
• work with children and young people both inside and external to the statutory child protection system, their families, kin, caregivers and/or carers;
• support children and young people to overcome their experience of sexual violence and abuse, lessen their trauma, and prevent negative impacts on their self-esteem, confidence and future relationships;
• change behaviour, reduce harm and prevent offending amongst children and young people who are exhibiting sexually reactive behaviours. Request for Clarification Cut Off: 2:00pm Qld Time Tuesday 10 March 2020
