The University of Queensland (UQ) is a premier Australian tertiary education institution, headquartered in Brisbane, Queensland. A member of the prestigious “Group of 8”, UQ has established itself as a destination of choice for both domestic and international students pursuing a higher education.
The eAssessment project has undertaken extensive engagement activities with every school and faculty across the University. Key interest groups including students, space management, central examinations and Information Technology Services have also provided feedback to the eAssessment project team.
The two key requirements of the eAssessment solution are:
- Ability to meet the day-to-day assessment needs of various Schools.
- Allow the University to conduct high stakes digital exams.
The University aims to achieve the following objectives and benefits with the implementation of the new eAssessment solution:
- Act as a viable alternative to the current disparate assessment tools.
- Encourage digital assessments as opposed to paper-based assessments.
- Reduce assessment-related workload for both staff and the unit conducting central examinations.
- Facilitate digitised assessment practises that encourage and support improved pedagogical practices and increased administrative efficiencies.
- Provide central databank for pre and post-assessment analysis.
- Assist in compliance with The University of Queensland’s assessment policies and procedures.
- Facilitate student engagement by providing assessment related feedback to students.
- Enhance student experience by providing a standard look and feel for various types of assessments irrespective of the course.
