| The Queensland Government is seeking proposals for the Queensland Road Safety Governance (TMRICT22070) under the Standing Offer Arrangement for the provision of Professional Services - Management, Policy and Agile Project/Program Management Services by Consultants to the Queensland Government.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is looking to engage a contractor to develop a Queensland Road Safety governance framework and then determine the most effective way forward to implement and operationalise the governance structure. The framework is to provide effective, sustainable and transparent management of Queensland’s road safety program within a complex arrangement of programs, functions and responsible parties.
The Camera Detected Offence Program (CDOP) is a jointly managed program by TMR, Queensland Police Service and Queensland Treasury – Queensland Revenue Office. The CDOP as a road safety intervention is the deployment of cameras that detect illegal driving behaviour. This results in the issuing of infringement notices which in turn generates revenue. By law, the revenue generated by the CDOP, in excess of the administrative costs of collection, must be reinvested into road safety initiatives. This makes the CDOP an integral part of managing the implementation of the road safety program in Queensland, as it funds prioritised behavioural interventions and infrastructure programs and initiatives, as well as the administration of the CDOP itself.
