Mental Health/Alcohol and Other Drugs Gambling Intervention Program; Problem Gambling Training Program

Queensland Government funds a Gambling Help Program (GHP), which provides a state-wide program of Government-funded services that aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people affected by gambling problems by providing access to free and confidential treatment and support options for people experiencing gambling harm. Providers under the system are also funded to deliver prevention, awareness and early intervention through a range of community engagement and education activities. The two sub programs under the GHP for this Request for Quote are the: • Mental Health/Alcohol and Other Drugs (MHAOD) Gambling Intervention Program; and • Problem Gambling Training Program (PGTP). The MHAOD Gambling Intervention Program is a state-wide gambling screening and gambling intervention program delivered to service provider clients receiving treatment for mental health or alcohol and other drugs (AOD). The program screens all mental health and AOD clients of the service for gambling problems using a Single Item Screening Tool. Where indicated by Single Item Screening, the service providers also administer the Problem Gambling Severity Index (PGSI). Clients with a PGSI score from 3 to 7 (moderate risk) are offered brief gambling intervention. Clients with a score of 8 or more are offered therapeutic gambling intervention. The PGTP delivers non-accredited training in screening and brief interventions. Training is delivered state-wide, to mental health, AOD and broader community sector agencies (e.g. Primary Health Networks, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health Services, homelessness services) in sectors associated with co-morbid disorders, such as mental health disorders, alcohol misuse, and/or other drugs misuse. This procurement activity aims to identify a suitable Supplier or Suppliers to deliver the MHAOD Gambling Intervention Program and PGTP over a three year and three-month period, from 1 April 2023 to 30 June 2026.
