Shorncliffe Station is a Queensland  Rail heritage listed facility on the Shorncliffe line.  The station is an end of line station also used for train crewing purposes. The existing station and precinct buildings are deteriorating at a  rate which normal maintenance funding is unable to manage. Building foundation subsidence, concrete deterioration, damage from termite  activity and the presence of asbestos (roofing and internal sheeting) are all contributing to an asset which requires significant renovation to meet the current operational and compliance requirements.

The project aims make Shorncliffe Station safer and more accessible for persons with a disability, and more pleasant and inviting to increase flow rates to access and egress trains. The expected outcomes to be achieved as a  result of this project include meeting current customer,  community and stakeholder expectations by maximising accessibility, providing  refurbished station buildings to improve the convenience and experience of travel; increasing safety and security measures through improved lighting and CCTV;  improved station amenity and accessible toilets; and meeting transport system efficiencies through improved operational facilities.
