Beaudesert Courthouse Replacement Project - Principal Consultant

The Queensland Government is seeking Proposals to engage a Principal Consultant in relation to the Replacement Beaudesert Courthouse project.

Located at 29 William Street, Beaudesert, the Beaudesert Courthouse was built in 1969 and refurbished in 1995. Additional upgrades to the building’s external amenities block and works to address equitable access was completed in 2007, and carpeted flooring replaced in 2011.  The Beaudesert Courthouse was included in a 2021 Strategic Assessment commissioned by DJAG. Beaudesert was one of seven courthouses identified as “Priority 1 Courthouses” which are in particular need of improvement. It is faced with several critical issues, including:

  • Functionality, safety and security: The existing facility has significant functionality issues, that is posing substantial safety and security risks to the judiciary, court staff, and other users.
  • Vulnerable users: The existing facility is inadequate for vulnerable users, particularly given the condition of facilities and lack of segregation.
  • Capacity: There is insufficient capacity within the existing courtroom and ancillary spaces to deliver upon DJAG’s strategic objectives and support emergent demand both in the local and broader catchments.

The facility has reached the end of its serviceable life and is to be replaced by a new facility that can meet the current service demand and provide provision for future expansion. The scope for the Beaudesert Courthouse includes:

  • delivery of temporary courthouse facilities
  • demolition of the existing courthouse and out-buildings, and
  • replacement with a new construction with integration to the Beaudesert Police Station.
