Architectural services for Laboratory fit-out at 40 & 42 Campbell Street and 11 Tufton Street, Bowen Hills
The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) requires architectural services to design a new laboratory to replace the existing Racing Science Centre (RSC) laboratory.
The primary aim of this “Planning and Pre-construction” phase of the project is to develop an advanced concept design that will allow QRIC to determine the construction costs to facilitate internal government budgeting approval processes and facilitate future consideration and approval of the construction / delivery phase of the project.
It is important to note that QRIC is yet to acquire a vacant site or vacant building to develop / renovate and hence, this needs to be considered in submissions made to QRIC in response to this procurement process.
QRIC is to be provided with:
- an advanced concept design that will allow QRIC to determine the construction cost to build a new laboratory (if a vacant site is acquired) or an internal fit-out (if an existing vacant building is acquired)
- the advanced concept design will provide QRIC with base material that will be included in future tender / procurement documentation for the next phase of the project (i.e. design and construct).

This contract was awarded following a request for quote - 3 quotes were sought from the market by way of email and the least cost technically compliant offer was selected. Due to the low value of the requirement an informal request for quote method was used as per the QRIC Procurement Policy and Procedures.
