Asbestos removal and building demolition services for buildings within 42 Campbell Street and 11 Tufton Street, Bowen Hills
QRIC has engaged Wilson Architects to lead in the preparation of an Advanced Concept Design, which will inform the detailed design of the project. To assist in this design phase, the services of a Fire Engineering consultant is required. The design phase of the project will generally be as follows:
Stage 1: Advanced Concept Design
A Fire Engineering consultant will provide the architects and other and other design professionals with the necessary advice and input to facilitate the preparation of an Advanced Concept Design, which will serve multiple purposes including:
(a) Satisfy QRIC's laboratory users and other internal stakeholders that the design will be functional and meet requirements
(b) Assist in developing an appropriate fire engineering solution for the site, which includes the adjoining site at 34 Campbell Street
(c) Allow QRIC to determine the construction and establishment costs (via Quantity Surveying assessment) that will be included in an internal Business Case for funding approval to undertake the work.
The services are to ensure any statutory and/or code requirements and met.
Stage 2: Detailed Design
Following completion of Stage 1, QRIC will procced with the preparation of a Detailed Design. The architects will lead this process and the services of a Fire Engineering consultant will be required to assist the architect and other design professionals to prepare a detailed design package. This includes preparing the necessary documentation suitable for tender invitation documentation.
QRIC to obtain:
- Demolition permit (i.e. BA)
- Disconnection of services (electricity, gas, sewer and water)
- Water supply during demolition
- Silt fencing.
QRIC to obtain:

This contract was awarded following a request for quote - 3 quotes were sought from the market by way of email and the least cost technically compliant offer was selected. Due to the low value of the requirement an informal request for quote method was used as per the QRIC Procurement Policy and Procedures.
