| The Department manages the former Linc Energy Site at Hopeland (Hopeland), and the former Carbon Energy Site at Beelbee (Bloodwood Creek).
Hopeland site is on the Contaminated Land Register due to contaminants in groundwater. In accordance with the requirements of the Site Based Management Plans (SBMP) for the sites, a groundwater and gas monitoring plan (GGMP) has been developed. This plan has been developed following a period of groundwater monitoring at the site which has identified contaminants resulting from previous operations at the site.
The purpose of this procurement is to find a service provider who has the ability to collect groundwater and gas samples, as well as source out or conduct analyses on those samples from 26 wells on a quarterly basis.
The analysis reports will be used for ground contamination assessments.
The first sampling round is expected to be undertaken in May or June 2023. The contract is planned for one year however, depending on service performance, the contract may be extended by one additional year.
The service supplier engaged is expected to provide water and gas laboratory analysis reports in line with technical guidelines and relevant documents issued under the Environmental Protection Act.
