State Government regulation requires the South East Queensland Water Grid to maintain an acceptable amount of water in the system to sustain the water demands of the region based on an agreed distribution. The SEQ Water Grid Manager requires an integrated decision management capability to holistically consider multiple objectives of cost, hydrology, risk and reliability and water quality. A number of criteria, including control conditions such as water resource usage, water requirements, physical, social and economic conditions, impact the operation and performance of the Water Grid. There is a significant requirement to combine this analysis to provide operational and strategic value in the manner in which the Grid is operated. The Decision Support System will initially deliver the optimisation capability for water security and cost with the foundations to provide for risk and reliability and water quality at a later stage.
